Stuck Holding the Bag: What to agree upon when the consultants leave ...

Hosts: Caleb Arnold, Tom Perry
The intention of this session was for attendees and participants to walk away with a list of ideas they can bring back to their organizations and clients to help negotiate conversations around what happens when the consultants leave and transition Agile responsibilities to full-time employees/organizations.
Thank you to everyone who attended.

Using an airplane and runway metaphor to parallel organizational Agile engagements with consultants. The runway represents the consultant engagement length to get the organization to sustainable 'Agile' flight. The amount of time, money and commitment provided by the organization to the consultants can either be the right or wrong amount depending on what is needed.
Questions posed:
- What does the organization need to do to make a consulting engagement successful?
- What does the consultant need from the organization to be successful?
- What type of runway are we on?
- What type of plane are we flying?

We then asked (using the plane metaphor):
- What does the student pilot need from the instructor to successfully fly on their own?
- What does the instructor need from the student to feel comfortable when they are no longer helping in the cockpit?
